About Takeover

In the world of Takeover, the known realm encompasses a sprawling dragon society, with the story focusing on a small group of outlaws looking to unite the four factions under the rule of their leader. This group, dubbed the Red Army, is more of a political force than a military army, though it is structured like the latter. Aeons of strife between the Forest Legion, Sky Legion, Frost Legion, and Night Legion have galvanized the Army members to leave their old lives behind and follow Red Leader to a new, glorious future. Eclipse, a young dragon with no home or history, is an Aviatrix of the Red Army and a proud apprentice to Rectrix Battalia of the Red Army. His mentor was like a mother to him, until something happened between Battalia and Red Leader, and suddenly Battalia was gone. Summoning a band of five friends, Eclipse and company set out into the greater realm, searching for anything that may reveal the fate of their comrade.

Collaboration and Audience

Takeover is a collaborative effort, dreamt up by a group of friends. It has existed in some form since 2016. Now, it is being spearheaded by one individual, but that collaborative nature is still vital throughout: characters are owned by multiple people, and the world itself is published copyheart, allowing freedom for fandom and creativity.
Takeover acknowledges the criticisms of much modern media released post-2010s and onward, being a story that can be enjoyed by both adults and children alike: written with a certain maturity but enjoyable to all, offering a unique experience that anyone can take away something different from. This aspect has been at the core of Takeover since its inception.

Characters and World

Most characters have backstory elements available, some with one-shot stories to read under their Library tab. Other elements about the Takeover world, such as an in-depth look at each legion or a dictionary of terms, can be found in the world. In time all missing information will be populated.
Thanks to the world's collaborative nature, some aspects are being developed by other people. The character roster within the world is the most complete cast of characters.

Animations

Takeover has been the subject of numerous animated clips both by the author and by collaborators/fans. These clips, which are usually part of a larger project, are small snippets depicting a plot element or artistically portraying a character scenario.

The Future of Takeover

The goal for this world is to produce a video game to tell the main story. It would be a story oriented 3D action platformer in the vein of Psychonauts, with other inspirations being Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, and Devil May Cry. The main player character would be Eclipse, though at various points in the story the player also takes control of Eclipse’s four friends, each with their unique style of play.

The game would merge an open world design with more traditional linear level design, making use of the movement and combat capabilities of dragons. Graphics would embrace a modern cartoonish look instead of hyperrealism, like Psychonauts 2.

Ultimately the story is the highlight of Takeover: even if the gameplay doesn’t strike gold with players, the story will leave quite an impact.
